I spent seven years in heavy commercial construction as a union carpenter, building architectural and structural concrete formwork, and placing concrete. I’ve spent over 10 years in detailed residential construction and remodeling work. I’ve seen many projects done well and I’ve seen many projects done poorly.
Where I consistently see alarming issues is with custom tile showers. There are many critical aspects to the waterproofing of showers and shower pans that, if not done correctly, will definitely leak. It may be a slow leak that is not caught for some time, or it could be a gusher that immediately causes extensive damage.
If you don’t decide to use my company, please at least use a licensed general contractor or tile contractor that has plenty experience building showers and waterproofing properly. A new tile shower is the last thing in your house that you want to fail!
